Monday 28 November 2016

Wow! what a weekend I have just had. Did a two day Christmas craft show at the Weald & Downland Open Air Museum. This museum, for my overseas visitors, is all about "old". Most of the buildings date back a century or more. They are shipped in from various parts of the South of England & rebuilt on the museum's site & alot of them host various craft stands for this particular weekend. I was situated in Crawley Hall in the market square. This room usually hosts weddings, children's courses & similar. It is a lovely room, small & compact, but carpeted & heated. It does get a little cramped when the visitors emerge on you but all part of the fun.
The show was actually 2 weeks later this year & I have to say I was a little worried as so much else was on as well. Needn't have worried, had a great weekend, 13 bears & 3 bunnies found their forever homes, along with my rapidly depleting stock of painted bits & pieces.
Now I have to come down from my high & start concentrating on our Christmas!!!!

Friday 18 November 2016

Well I'm still plodding on with my stocking presents, keyrings & brooches, but to give myself a break I made this sweet little ellie. Lizzie is just 4.5" tall, her head & legs are heavyweight polyfilled & her body is full of steel granules, giving her a nice weight. She can be found on my website lanesendbears.com or Bearpile

Tuesday 15 November 2016

Did a two day Christmas craft fair at the weekend, where I had three bears adopted. Also a couple of pieces of my painted stuff. While there, I was sitting sewing tiny 2.5" bears to make into keyrings for Handmade Happiness in Petersfield, Hampshire, two of which were snapped up by customers, who came back once they were finished. Now I have to start some more for the shop!!!
Have another craft show Saturday, all busy, busy, busy for the run up to Christmas.

Monday 7 November 2016

Posting a picture of Olivia, a cute little 5" bear made from Shulte mohair. She's wearing a hand knitted coat & matching hat. She may be my last bear for a bit as I'm going to be making some bear related stocking presents. I have two big Christmas shows coming up, one this weekend & another at the end of the month. I can't believe how quickly it's crept up on us!!!!

Sunday 6 November 2016

Another post because Jenny from Jenny-handmadehappiness.blogspot.com emailed me a photo of the latest 3 bears I had sent her earlier in the week. I had stupidly forgotten to take one myself, before packing them up to send!!!! It look's like they are sitting in front of someone's beautiful patchwork.
One new photo for you this cold & frosty morning. Pepe a sweet little 6" bear made from viscose

Wednesday 2 November 2016

Another little 6.5" portly bear. This is Sasha, made from vintage velvet....yes from my mum's attic!!! He can be found on my website or Bearpile.

Sunday 30 October 2016

This morning I am posting a pic of a little, very portly 6.5" bear made from vintage velvet plush. I would go as far as to say it is probably antique!! I found it in my late mother's attic when we were clearing the house after she sadly passed away last year.
Found several pieces of velvet of different colours, some large pieces, some not so large. I think somewhere on this blog there is a photo of Diesel who was made from a lovely, but very small piece of blue velvet. I really wish there had been more of that colour, because apart from blue being my favourite colour I just loved how a bear looked made from that velvet.
Anyway back to Ruby, she can be found on my website or Bearpile.

Wednesday 26 October 2016

This morning I am posting photos of one of my favourite bear patterns. This is Kip made from hand dyed viscose & is about 8.5".
The next photo is of Benny, a new pattern, a very portly little bear that comes out at around 6".
Lastly is Reggie a 7.25" bunny. I am really pleased with how he turned out. These three can be found on my website or Bearpile

The first photo this morning, are of two bears I have made for jenny-handmadehappiness.blogspot.com These are a bit different to her usual ones but I did not have enough mohair to do those ones. If you make bears or anything that requires a pattern you will know with a lot of jigging about you can get the same length of bear onto the fabric but not necessarily from the same pattern.....not sure that makes sense but I know what I mean!!!
The next two photos are my usual bear 8.5" both made from viscose. I really love this type of bear, they are, I think, more traditional.
